SchoolSession!

Sponsored by the Beethoven Foundation for Art and Culture in Bonn, the National Youth Orchestra’s “SchoolSession!” program offers educationally stimulating concerts to school pupils between the ages of 8 and 16.  The fact that the musicians and speakers on the stage are barely older than the members of the audience gives an exciting directness to the presentation of supposedly “boring” material. 

The young listeners in these concerts see other young people barely older than themselves who obviously enjoy playing classical music and are willing to sacrifice free time and holidays to do so.  The response to our first concerts for school children has confirmed our belief that the National Youth Orchestra can be particularly effective in introducing young listeners to classical music.
