The National Youth Orchestra of Germany

An orchestra does not exist without its musicians. In the National Youth Orchestra of Germany these are young people aged 14 to 19 years.  Following a successful audition, each player receives at least two years of broad, intensive training, as more than 2,000 previous members already had.

The people behind the scenes are just as important as the ones on stage, and this is especially true for the National Youth Orchestra. Teachers and assistants work very intense with the young artists to prepare them for the full orchestra rehearsals with the conductor. The advisory board, management, back-stage team, apprentices, bus and truck drivers, and many, many others – all work together to ensure optimal working conditions which give the young artists the opportunity to devote their full attention to the music.
