Concentration and Cooperation

The work periods form the heart of this orchestra’s activities. In only a few days of concentrated rehearsal, 100 individual musicians from all over Germany come together and are transformed into an orchestra with a characteristic and unified sound. Then the concert tour can begin.

The BJO normally has three work periods a year, each lasting approximately three weeks. In winter, spring, and summer, the BJO musicians meet for ten days to prepare a new program. The first rehearsals take place in small groups directed by experienced teachers, before the entire orchestra assembles to work with the conductor. Shortly before the tour begins, the soloists join the orchestra for the final rehearsals. Following this preparatory period, a ten-day concert tour in Germany or abroad forms the second part of the work period.
