For many years, the campus project organised by the Beethovenfest Bonn and Deutsche Welle in collaboration with the National Youth Orchestra of Germany, has been one of the highlights of the orchestra's presence in Bonn. Here, connections are made all over the world through music – after all, music is boundless!
After China, India, South Africa, Ukraine, Afghanistan and many other countries took centre stage, Nigeria will be the partner country in 2025. Under the direction of the German-Nigerian musician and political activist Adé Bantu, young people from the Bundesjugendorchester in Germany and musicians from neighbourhood of the MUSON Centre of Music in Lagos will work together with professional musicians from Nigeria with different musical backgrounds to create a concert for the campus project. The result is a program that moves between Afrobeat and classical Western sounds.
