It's a cherished tradition: the annual concert at the Easter Festival in the famous spa town of Baden-Baden with the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, which has been the Mentoring Orchestra of the National Youth Orchestra of Germany since 2013. Musicians from both top ensembles sit side by side and everyone in the audience can hear the special energy that flows between the admired professionals and the promising young musicians. Together with the Japanese violinist and dedicatee Midori, they perform Detlev Glanert's 2nd Violin Concerto ‘To the Immortal Beloved’. The programme will be complemented by Johannes Brahms' enchanting Piano Quartet No. 1, orchestrated by Arnold Schönberg. The musical director is Patrick Lange, a welcome guest at the Vienna State Opera and the Opéra national de Paris, who has been closely associated with the National Youth Orchestra of Germany for many years.
