It is THE operetta! As a prime example of the supposedly light muse, it radiates waltz, polka and czardas light-footedness. Yet it is quite enigmatic, musically masterfully crafted and almost ironically tailored to characters and situations. Hardly any other "opera" is performed more often and is so beloved by audiences. The ingeniously composed earworms and waltzes are irresistible, as is a story that only the subtle humour of Viennese wit can tell in such an incomparable way.
In 2025, the National Youth Orchestra of Germany takes over the role of the opera orchestra of the Junge Oper Schloss Weikersheim under the direction of conductor Dirk Kaftan. The performances in the castle courtyard will be preceded by the International Opera Academy of Jeunesses Musicales Deutschland, one of the most renowned projects for the promotion of young opera talents at European level with international young singers at the beginning of their careers.
