Longing and passion: In spring 2025, the National Youth Orchestra of Germany presents music with strong references to music history. Including the Japanese violinist Midori, who conquered the music world as a child prodigy. Detlev Glanert dedicated his 2nd Violin Concerto to her, inspired by the most famous love letter in music history: Beethoven's legendary letter to the ‘immortal beloved’, which was never sent and whose addressee remains a mystery to this day. The programme is complemented by Johannes Brahms' enchanting Piano Quartet No. 1 in a sonorous orchestration by Arnold Schönberg. The musical director is Patrick Lange, who has been closely associated with the National Youth Orchestra for many years.
