Summer 2025

Three works from three world religions, a combination of Christianity, Islam and Judaism. A concert programme could not be more topical. In the summer of 2025, the National Youth Orchestra of Germany will be performing Gustav Mahler's Symphony No. 4 alongside Fazıl Say's ‘Tanrıça (Mother Goddess)’ and Leonard Bernstein's Symphony No. 1 with the nickname ‘Jeremiah’. ‘Each of the first three movements is thematically connected to the last in the most intimate and meaningful way,’ wrote the composer himself about one of his most cheerful and accessible works. The solo part in Bernstein's and Mahler's symphony will be performed by Israeli mezzo-soprano Rachel Frenkel, whose warm yet clear voice is a delight. Dirk Kaftan, General Music Director and conductor of the Beethoven Orchestra Bonn, will take over the musical direction of the top young talent for the first time.
