Without the support of our numerous friends and sponsors, the many ambitious projects and tours of the German National Youth Orchestra would be impossible.
The German National Youth Orchestra is primarily funded by the German Federal Ministry for Women, Families, Youth, and the Elderly, as part of the Kinder- und Jugendplan des Bundes.
Important sponsors are DekaBank Deutsche Girozentrale and Stiftung Bundesjugendorchester as well as the Mercedes-Benz Group.
The City of Bonn, where the orchestra has its home, has supported the orchestra since 2012.
The German Orchestra Union unisono and the German Orchestra Foundation provide continuing financial aid to the orchestra.
Our project partners provide financial and moral support for individual projects.
Expenses for foreign tours and prestigious guest appearances are provided by the German Ministry for Foreign Affairs, the German embassies in the countries involved, and by the Goethe Institute.
The German National Youth Orchestra is a member of Jeunesses Musicales Germany and received that organization’s “Würth Prize” in 2011. As part of the Schloss Weikersheim “Young Opera” program, the young musicians of the National Youth Orchestra of Germany gain valuable insights into the world of opera performance.
MusXchange is a transnational mobility programme for a new generation of European musicians by the European Federation of National Youth Orchestras. It is financed by the EU Creative Europe Programme.
When it comes to travelling with valuable instruments or when the score calls for a celesta, we need help from professionals.
These institutions can help:
Kalms Flightcases has been supporting the orchestra for many years with transport cases that ensure the safe transfer of instruments on tour.
The Bundesjugendorchester plays a celesta from Schiedmayer Celesta GmbH, a long-established German company. We are delighted to have Schiedmayer's support in terms of regulation and service.
The Bundesjugendorchester's cymbals are made by Roland Meinl Musikinstrumente GmbH & Co. KG. We would like to thank them for their support and sponsorship.
backlight! GmbH has been at our side for 15 years during our tours for all tasks that arise – from setting up and dismantling the stage to transporting the instruments.
For many years, Channel 3 of the West German Radio (WDR) has been a sponsor and media partner of the German National Youth Orchestra. WDR3 actively supports the orchestra with news reports, interviews, live and recorded broadcasts, as well as studio recordings.
Deutsche Welle, Germany’s international broadcasting service, accompanies the German National Youth Orchestra on foreign tours, providing coverage on radio, television, and the Internet, and participating in cooperative projects.
Live recordings by the Radio Berlin-Brandenburg (rbb), Bavarian Radio (BR), Southwest German Radio (SWR), and North German Radio (NDR) bring the orchestra’s concerts to a larger audience, and also help the young players overcome any “microphone fever” they might have.
