Summer 2026: Sound bridges from Germany to Georgia

The National Youth Orchestra of Germany is touring this summer with a programme full of emotion and colour: under the musical direction of Aurel Dawidiuk and with Georgian pianist Giorgi Gigashvili, the orchestra will perform works that connect history and the present. Giya Kancheli's ‘Another Step ...’ opens the evening with soft sounds and spiritual depth. Rachmaninoff's monumental Piano Concerto No. 3 challenges both soloist and orchestra alike – a virtuoso piece of the highest intensity. The programme concludes with Mussorgsky's ‘Pictures at an Exhibition’ in Ravel's colourful orchestration: a soundscape that ranges from monumental force to delicate miniatures. Together with Kancheli's ‘Another Step ...’, this music combines sound images that atmospherically condense moods and scenes. They trace emotions and places musically, thus relying on a poetic connection between visual and auditory impressions.
